We are living in turbulent times. Mass migration and the raise and radicalization of left- and right wing populists are dividing our societies more than ever. Even within families, the difference of opinions often have tragic consequences for individual family members.
It is undeniable that racism and violent manifestations of racism all over the globe also reflect on our virtual community in Second Life, leaving us more separated and lost than ever before. While we do respect the freedom of speech and opinion of each of our individual members, we do not agree to or support racism.
MISS SL Organization is regarded as a family by many of you, the models, pageant candidates and attendees of our events. It is our utmost pleasure to welcome everyone to the organization, regardless their level of experience, gender, sexuality, religion, race or political orientation.
At MISS SL Organization we do not engage in political or politically motivated discourse. Also religious matters are handled with the greatest care and respect for all religious beliefs. We were the first pageant organization to abandon the antiquated real life gender requirement for our competitions, too.
We are enjoying a colorful community at MISS SL Organization, with members from all over the world, the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. Our members are a display of how different cultures and beliefs can work together without boundaries and with respect for each other. National or regional differences between ideological groups cannot play a role in our global orientated organization and community. Hence we will not encourage or invite these groups or individual members to voice their opinions at our events.
Yet, we also have no influence on each individual member’s personal view and interests. In recent discussions single members of our organization were questioned for sharing their politically motivated view on racism. We have not and will not engage in these discussions, as we mean to remain neutral to all instances and cannot encourage social media bashing on individuals.
However, we want to make clear that racism is not and cannot get supported by our organization, independent of the factors mentioned above and our desire for neutrality. Individuals who are voicing support for racism have no place at MISS SL Organization as any form of racism is against the global approach by MISS SL Organization.
MISS SL Organization does not engage in politics which divide us in “us” and “them”. Racism and Nationalism have deep historical roots in our society and it is the task of this and future generations to overcome this overshadowed heritage. The current resurgence of openly displayed racism is an insult to the accumulated collective intelligence of humanity and future historians will judge us on how we have acted in these troubling times.
It is required of all members of the MISS SL Organization to support inclusiveness, to be open minded for different cultures and beliefs and to help each other, independent of an individual’s background. Divisive opinions and views have to be met with resistance and education, with wisdom and calm.
My personal wish for all members of the MISS SL Organization is that we all can enjoy the organization’s efforts in uniting the community in our events and projects, without politics, racism or discussion about national or regional differences.
We are celebrating Beauty, Creativity and Talent including and involving every race, sexuality, gender, religion and culture.
We love fashion, we love modeling, we love events – We are one family.
Sincerely yours,
MISS SL ORGANIZATION
